Blue Beat Special was a rocksteady/reggae compilation album released on Coxsone Records (CSP1) in 1968. It featured artists such as the Soul Vendors , The Termites (not the Psychobillies from Killie!), Alton Ellis , Keith & Ken , Dudley Sibley and last but in no way least, Jackie Mittoo . Coxsone was one of the lesser-known subsidiary labels of Island Records . The sub-label takes takes its name from Studio One founder and producer Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd. In the latter part of it's life it was taken over by Trojan . The label was home to some of the most highly-regarded reggae acts of the time. Nearly all Coxsone singles are very scarce and very sought-after. Available in both Navy and Royal Blue.
