Green's Playhouse - Humble Pie 1972
Green's Playhouse was a music venue at 126 Renfield Street in Glasgow city centre, Scotland. It operated from 15 September 1927 until closure on 30 June 1973 and was then re-branded at the Glasgow Apollo and continued to be the city's leading music venue for another generation. Humble Pie are an English rock music band formed in 1969, known as one of the first supergroups of the late 1960s, and found success on both sides of the Atlantic in the early 1970s. The original band line-up featured lead vocalist and guitarist Steve Marriott from Small Faces , vocalist and guitarist Peter Frampton from The Herd , former Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley and a 17-year-old drummer, Jerry Shirley , from The Apostolic Intervention. Humble Pie played Green's Playhouse on Thursday 2 November 1972 after releasing the album Smokin' earlier the same year. By that time Peter Frampton had been replaced by Clem Clempson .
