The Jam - Girl On The Phone
The Jam were an English band during the 1970s and early 1980s, which formed in 1972 at Sheerwater Secondary School in Woking and eventually comprised of Paul Weller on guitar and vocals, bassist Bruce Foxton (occassionally on vocals) and drummer Rick Buckler . Girl on the Phone is an album track from their fourth studio album Setting Sons , released in 1979. The opening track finds Weller singing of a girl who won't stop telephoning him and seems to know everything about him. Weller said "That song came from sitting in our office in Shepherd's Bush with an acoustic guitar because we needed two more songs for the album. I just knocked out Girl On The Phone and Private Hell , The title is from a Roy Lichtenstein pop-art painting called Girl On The Phone ." And there you have it, well now you do...
