Les Elite was one of the early bands playing on the renewed London Mod scene in the late seventies. Alick Letort was the band's French-born guitarist, Derwent Jaconelli (who replaced David Crossley) appeared on drums, John Kiely was the bass player and finally came vocalist Chris Grierson. The band called it a day in 1980 and true to their roots, their last gig was where it all began for them, at the Bridge House in Canning Town. Sadly Les Elite never released anything at the time apart from a track, Career Girls , which featured on a compilation album that was put out by the Rocket label in 1979. It was a different version that appeared on the Beat Generation & The Angry Young Men compilation (1984) and the Unicorn release, Pathways 1978-79 , which was a seven track mini album released in 1987.
