Long-known as the host to dubstep's formative FWD>> parties, Plastic People was a tiny basement club on Curtain Road in the heart of east London's Shoreditch. The club originally opened in the 1990s on Oxford Street, eventually hosting seminal nights like Erol Alkan’s Trash before moving in 2000. With a world famous sound system and infamously dim lighting, the experience was all about loud music in a dark room. In addition to the bass-oriented FWD night, Plastic People regularly featured techno, house, hip-hop, and other more experimental nights and shows. The final public event at Plastic People happened on Friday, January 2nd 2015, The following night the club's friends and family gathered for a party called Last Dance .
